apksig is a project that aims to simplify APK g and whether APK signatures should be verified on Android. apksig s JAR g (used by Android since day one) and APK Signature Scheme v2 (ed since Android Nougat, API level 24). The main feature of apksig is that it knows the differences in the APK signature verification logic between different versions of the Android platform. apksig can thus check whether a signed APK is supposed to be verified on all versions of the Android platform ed by the APK. When g an APK, apksig will choose the most appropriate cryptographic algorithms based on the Android platform versions ed by the APK being signed.
